Caingin Fiesta at San Rafael, Bulacan

During the first sunday of May, residents of Caingin, San Rafael Bulacan, celebrate their 'fiesta'.

We were invited by some of my mom's relatives as they would be preparing their special dishes.

We first dropped by the Sto. Cristo Parish as it was known to be miraculous.

Outside the church, there were vendors selling calasiao and suman.

In the Philippines, only one thing is certain when it comes to celebrating fiestas, and that is overflowing food.

Seafood, lechong baka, sinampalukang manok and home-made langka ice cream were just some of the dishes served. 

And ofcourse, no celebration would be complete without videoke!=)

I'm proud to say that our relatives were all talented singers. When I was asked if I could give a 'sample', I told them I would rather dance instead (and in my head I was planning to do the running man =P).

I ate a lot of shrimp and I surprisingly liked the home-made langka ice cream though I dont eat langka. It was a fun and filling day and I hope to be back next year =)

Dye Another Day

The black roots of my hair were starting to show after 7 months since my last cellophane treatment =(

I was hesitant to go back to the salon to have it retouched because it would cost around P1K just to cover the roots.

When a friend suggested to color my own hair and try Etude's Bubble Hair Coloring, I decided to give it a go since it only costs P378.00. When I went to the nearest Etude House branch (Megamall), I found out that this product is always out of stock and I have to reserve one and go back after a few days. 

You can choose from the following colors: deep black, natural brown, dark brown, and wine red.  

I chose dark brown since the natural brown was too light for me.

It's so easy to use. Just pour in #1 (pink sachet) into #2 (white foam dispenser), give it a little shake and it's ready. If you will notice, the bottle will become a bit warm probably due to the chemical reaction. 

The package also comes with plastic gloves and a body cover to protect your clothes from getting stained. 

Once you're all set, you can now lather your dry hair with a lot of foam from the dispenser. Make sure to cover every side to make the color even. You can use a big toothed comb to make sure the color reaches the roots. Continue massaging your hair and spreading the foam for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, you can now rinse your hair with the conditioner. (#5)

Your hair will feel so dry but the conditioner will do the work to regain its natural softness.

After rinsing and drying my hair, my black roots now look like this: (with flash)

The nurse had to help me fold my sleeve up to my shoulder =S. The shot wasn't so bad. Well maybe because I got over my phobia with vaccines. I remember a time (childhood days) when I endlessly cried just because I was scared to death haha. The only adverse reaction that I felt was the slight pain and a little swelling at the injection site. It feels like I have bruise on my arm but its normal and the pain wasn't irritating.

Uniqlo Sneak Peak

I know everyone is excited for Uniqlo's grand opening on June 15 at SM Mall of Asia.

If you haven't heard about Uniqlo, it's a Japanese brand which offers super comfy casual wear.

 I loved the comfort and the styles. It's simple, laid back and hip.

I joined their vote and win promo in their FB page (still undergoing) but the lucky stars are not in my favor yet because I haven't won the shirt that I'm voting for =( Hopefully I'll be able to get my own shirt soon.

Pretty in Pink

Pop Shop Princess Lipsticks

 

I think every kikay girl has to have 1 pink lipstick in her make-up kit. Since I'm not really a pro to buy those expensive ones, I decided to try these fab shades from Pop Shop. 

I know what you're thinking... yes it's for teens hence the 'Princess Collection' but I'm just twenteen something so I guess it's ok haha.  

  I wanted to buy all of them because I can't decide which shade I would use regularly but I just kept in mind to choose something wearable and something that would suit my personality.

So I chose: Princess Mayblossom & Princess Amethyst

If you're wearing neutral colors, this shade of pink could blend in. It's for a fresh/ demure feel.

More on the nude side but with a hint of pink.

Has a bold color and its good to blend with darker colors. More subtle than red.

I was expecting to have "Barbie" pink lips but it wasn't too pigmented. It resulted to a raspberry shade which I also liked.

Hunger for Battle

Hunger Games vs. Battle Royale

Two weeks ago, I was able to borrow my friend’s DVD copy of Battle Royale I & II. It was also the same weekend that I was able to finish reading the third installment of Hunger Games. I was so curious about how Hunger Games was being rumored to be a rip-off of Battle Royale.

Although the main idea was similar (killing each other and only one should survive) they are still different in a lot of ways. I liked both stories but Hunger Games was the one who got me hooked. The complexity of HG made it more thrilling. There were a lot of factors to consider to determine the outcome and every event in the story would make the audience think on what would happen next. On the other hand, Battle Royale was centered on survival alone making the audience think only of how the others would be killed off. The brutality in BR was more severe than HG. I liked the humor in some parts of BR and its more realistic if it would really happen. The HG (movie) wasn’t able to capture much of the action scenes in the book, probably because HG was targeting a younger audience than BR. BR II was action-packed with the use of more firearms and involving the military. HG’s appeal was also brought about by Katniss’ sentiments in dealing with her physical and emotional struggles. I’m not sure if I would like Battle Royale better if I read it. It seems reading vs. watching could make a huge difference. =P

In Full Bloom

Before summer officially ends, I just want to share this floral print dress which has been 'sleeping' in my closet.

Haven't used this dress yet. I'm not sure if I could pull it off =P Watcha think?
