Time to Chop?

Does shorter hair make you look younger?

I don't think there's a scientific explanation for that =P Last year when my hair was still so long my mom would always tell me that I look old. (Do I really?) I actually didn't understand her logic then. I just knew that she wanted me to chop it off =P. It took a while before I decided to finally change my hairstyle, I had to weigh all the pros and cons since there would be no turning back.

(Team Long Hair)
It elongates my face making me look thin
I can experiment with different hairstyles
I don't have to frequently brush the ends so it won't fly away
Easier to fix a bad hair day coz I can tie it back
I think men prefer long hair (landi =P)

(Team Shorter Hair:)
Note to self: your hair is already so dry, growing it would only tell the world how nasty it is =P
Fewer hours in the shower
Perfect for the hot weather
Shorter drying time
Can save shampoo and conditioner
No more nagging from mom
A different look for the new year
Less falling hair
Less expensive treatments (kuripot mode)
will make me look younger (I think)

Obviously, shorter hair won. But I still don't have the guts to have it really short so I stayed with the safe shoulder-length cut. (Minus 6 inches from my 2011 hair) =)

Archipelago Cinema: The World's First Cinema on Water

Watching movies in a theater - common.

Watching movies inside a car - classic.

Watching movies on water - Say what???!!!

Archipelago Cinema: The World's First Cinema on Water

The genius behind this amazing concept is a German architect who is based in Beijing named Ole Scheeren together with the Film on the Rocks Yao Noi Foundation which is presided by Nat Sarasas, Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Chomwan Weeraworawit.

Location: Nai Pi Lae lagoon, Kudu Island, Thailand

In his website, Scheeren described the project as:
"A screen, nestled somewhere between the rocks. And the audience… floating. Hovering above the sea, somewhere in the middle of this incredible space of the lagoon, focused on the moving images across the water. A landscape of pieces playfully joined together. A sense of temporality, randomness. Almost like drift wood. Or maybe something more architectural. Modular pieces, loosely assembled, like a group of little islands. A congregation of rafts as an auditorium. Archipelago Cinema."

Monday I am Shufflin' :)

Yup it’s Monday again. Still in the weekend mood? Yea, I know the feeling (ulk). That’s why I’m sharing my 'Monday Energizer' playlist to make you forget that it’s Monday and make you feel like it’s Friday. No more sleepy heads but only shakin’ booties. Oh yeah! Ready to groove? Let’s start the week right!

Warning: This may cause loud singing, last song syndrome (LSS) and/or dangerously-funky dance moves. =P Enjoy!

Note: Songs are arranged in no particular order.

My current favorite is Karmin's 'Brokenhearted'  ♥

Eggcellent!

The egg hunt is a common tradition during Easter as the egg symbolizes the 'rebirth of man'. Colored eggs with special treats inside are hidden for children to find. There would be prizes for the one who collected the most eggs and for the one who found the 'special' egg. When I was a kid, I think I only experienced this once and I didn't even win anything boohoo :( I just re-used the eggs I collected as part of my lutu-lutuan toys =P If you're having a party here are some ideas to make the eggs more unique =P

Hello Kyutty

I'm more of a dog person than a cat person. The only cat that I love is Hello Kitty haha! I'm actually (kind of) scared of cats because of some 'traumatic' experiences. Way back in elementary a cat in our school snatched my lunch. It  jumped so high (almost in my face) and tossed my plate, leaving my entire chicken meal on the floor. Another incident is when I accidentally stepped on her while she was sleeping and she left a long scratch mark on my leg as punishment for disturbing her sleep. Bad!
Anyway, there was something that made me watch this video. Probably her face was so cute while her hands are up as she is cornered by the vacuum. This reminded me of Puss in Boots of Shrek when he makes his wide-eyed expression. =P

Shang Palace

My Lola's 90th birthday was celebrated at Shang Palace. It is Makati Shangri-la's fine dining restaurant offering Cantonese cuisine. Just from the entrance, you can already feel the luxurious ambiance because of the beautiful chandeliers, the red carpet, the wooden latticework designs and the beautifully-decorated walls. It felt like I was in an emperor's palace =)

Our appetizer:

Crispy Roast Peking Duck with Chinese Pancake

This meal got my appetite rolling. The skin was very crunchy and the hint of vegetables was perfect and it added to the crispness. There was enough sauce to make it tasty. The chinese pancake (more like chinese style unleavened bread) was not too thick and not oily which I really liked.

Braised Corn Soup with Chicken

Steamed Lapu-Lapu

Deep fried spareribs with fragrant garlic
This was a bit salty.

Deep Fried Boneless Chicken coated with Almond Flakes in Lemon Sauce

Minced Duck's Meat served with lettuce

This no-carb meal was very tasty and the lettuce cups were crunchy.

Hot Prawn Salad

This is one of their best-sellers and definitely my favorite. I love shrimps and they sure had VERY plump ones. It was topped with mixed fruits and it was covered with mayonnaise. I'm not a fan of pineapple in hot dishes so I just hoped there was none haha! It was a bit sweet and sour and some people may not like it.

Chilled Almond Jelly with Fruits

It took a little while for our orders to arrive (because we ordered a lot) but their food was truly for royal guests considering the taste, their servings and the price haha! Good venue for special occasions as they have 11 private rooms and they have cozy booths (perfect for dates) =P

Shang Palace is located at Level 2, Makati Shangri-la Hotel

Monday, Cheeseday, Wednesday...

It was actually Friday and I can't think of a place without meat. When a friend suggested to eat at Taco Bell, my saliva started to ooze out just thinking about burritos and tacos. But I had to control the urge and opted for something within the rules. Good thing they have Lenten specials.

They also have a new product: 5 Cheese Pocket Wrap which I ordered.

[Note: the chicked burrito was for my friend, it's not included in the meal =P]
The cheese wrap (right) is indeed pocket-sized. It was quite small but it was filled with so much cheese and tomatoes and what I believe is cilantro. The crispy nachos were filling and the dip was just enough. Their nachos were quite different because it wasn't the usual thick corn tortilla chips. I'm not sure, but I think their chips are baked which is a plus =) Since I eat in small portions, it was good enough for me. But if you're really hungry, I think you should order 2 =P Overall, I really liked it, for P99.00, it's a good snack =)
