Dye Another Day

The black roots of my hair were starting to show after 7 months since my last cellophane treatment =(
I was hesitant to go back to the salon to have it retouched because it would cost around P1K just to cover the roots.

When a friend suggested to color my own hair and try Etude's Bubble Hair Coloring, I decided to give it a go since it only costs P378.00. When I went to the nearest Etude House branch (Megamall), I found out that this product is always out of stock and I have to reserve one and go back after a few days.

You can choose from the following colors: deep black, natural brown, dark brown, and wine red.
I chose dark brown since the natural brown was too light for me.

It's so easy to use. Just pour in #1 (pink sachet) into #2 (white foam dispenser), give it a little shake and it's ready. If you will notice, the bottle will become a bit warm probably due to the chemical reaction.

The package also comes with plastic gloves and a body cover to protect your clothes from getting stained.
Once you're all set, you can now lather your dry hair with a lot of foam from the dispenser. Make sure to cover every side to make the color even. You can use a big toothed comb to make sure the color reaches the roots. Continue massaging your hair and spreading the foam for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, you can now rinse your hair with the conditioner. (#5)
Your hair will feel so dry but the conditioner will do the work to regain its natural softness.
After rinsing and drying my hair, my black roots now look like this: (with flash)

with white lights and no flash

A very affordable makeover that took only 30 minutes =)

Pretty in Pink

Pop Shop Princess Lipsticks

I think every kikay girl has to have 1 pink lipstick in her make-up kit. Since I'm not really a pro to buy those expensive ones, I decided to try these fab shades from Pop Shop.
I know what you're thinking... yes it's for teens hence the 'Princess Collection' but I'm just twenteen something so I guess it's ok haha.
I wanted to buy all of them because I can't decide which shade I would use regularly but I just kept in mind to choose something wearable and something that would suit my personality.

So I chose: Princess Mayblossom & Princess Amethyst

Princess Mayblossom (peach shade)

If you're wearing neutral colors, this shade of pink could blend in. It's for a fresh/ demure feel.
More on the nude side but with a hint of pink.

The look:

Princess Amethyst - (fuchsia pink)

Has a bold color and its good to blend with darker colors. More subtle than red.
I was expecting to have "Barbie" pink lips but it wasn't too pigmented. It resulted to a raspberry shade which I also liked.

The look:

Special Intro Price of P 89.00 and any 2 for P 149.00 saving P 191
Regular Price is: P170

+ It has a little fruity smell and it's not drying.
- low staying power
- low to medium coverage
+ with moisturizer and sunscreen
- not pigmented, need a couple of swipes to get full coverage
+/- not glossy
+ super affordable
+/- you have to contact a dealer at Tupperware brands

Pop Shop Lipstick is a product of Tupperware Brands Philippines.

Cheap Thrills =)

#1 - Colour Collection Vitamin-Enriched Lipstick
I've been using my mom's lipstick for weeks now. I loved the shade and it's not drying my lips. The shade is Coral Flame and can be bought from your direct selling agents for only P169. I would definitely repurchase once this runs out. =)

#2 - Human Nature Citronella Bug Spray + Human Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil

I needed another bottle of citronella spray since I'm a certified "habulin" (not of boys) but of mosquitoes. =P The good thing about this product is it's organic and inexpensive (P99). It also doesn't just protect you from mosquitoes but it also has essential oils to keep your skin moisturized. The sunflower beauty oil has a lot of uses - makeup remover, hair serum, undereye whitener and can lighten stretchmarks and underarms with daily use. Also, this all-around product is very affordable (P 129.75).

#3 - FitFlops Walkstar I (Black)

I tried my mom's everyday footwear as she told me how comfy it was. I actually liked it but I thought it was quite expensive for me (being kuripot that I am). But thanks to a friend (Ryan) who informed me about the Warehouse sale, that I got my own pair for 80% off =) Yey!

# 4 - Mendrez Camel Sandals

I wanted to have a light-colored sandals, good for everyday wear and inexpensive.
I found the perfect pair at Mendrez for only P599. =)

More kuripot buys soon =)

Time to Chop?

Does shorter hair make you look younger?

I don't think there's a scientific explanation for that =P Last year when my hair was still so long my mom would always tell me that I look old. (Do I really?) I actually didn't understand her logic then. I just knew that she wanted me to chop it off =P. It took a while before I decided to finally change my hairstyle, I had to weigh all the pros and cons since there would be no turning back.

(Team Long Hair)
It elongates my face making me look thin
I can experiment with different hairstyles
I don't have to frequently brush the ends so it won't fly away
Easier to fix a bad hair day coz I can tie it back
I think men prefer long hair (landi =P)

(Team Shorter Hair:)
Note to self: your hair is already so dry, growing it would only tell the world how nasty it is =P
Fewer hours in the shower
Perfect for the hot weather
Shorter drying time
Can save shampoo and conditioner
No more nagging from mom
A different look for the new year
Less falling hair
Less expensive treatments (kuripot mode)
will make me look younger (I think)

Obviously, shorter hair won. But I still don't have the guts to have it really short so I stayed with the safe shoulder-length cut. (Minus 6 inches from my 2011 hair) =)

Beautifool

We all want to look and feel good. This is why we buy products and cosmetics that would make our skin look better, our hair softer and generally improve our over-all condition and appearance. But does it really help us? I got this from a kikay friend to remind me that not all products are safe and we should keep an eye on certain chemicals found in our beauty products which may cause harm.

So have you checked what’s your favorite shampoo made of? How about your gorgeous red lipstick? Better raid your dresser and check your make up collection and all your other beauty weapons as well. We may not feel the bad effects now but after prolonged use, the harmful effects could be slowly crawling in. Better be safe than sorry kikay friends. Use this chart as a guide to know the chemicals to avoid and its safer alternatives =)

Cuts & Colours Salon

I needed to attend a semi-formal event (my Lola’s 90th bday) and we’ll be having our official family picture taken that’s why I needed to look good. At first, I decided I would do my own makeup but I really don’t know the basics and I’m afraid I would look like a ghost in our family portrait =P. So my mom and I decided to have our hair and make-up done at a nearby salon. My mom tried to contact A Salon which she has tried before but they are now under the name Cuts & Colours.

Their place was very simple, spacious and clean. Also they have the most recent magazines which you can browse while waiting.

The mua's kit included products from Bobbi Brown, Shu Uemura, Lancome and mostly from Mac.

They offer the latest Kerastase products as well.

This is me while having my hair done with no make up yet. So pale and eye bags galore =P

That's Ms. Beth (the makeup artist), working on the base.

After a few hours, tada!! My curled up hair and simple neutral makeup courtesy of Ms. Beth =) I really liked   it because it wasn't too heavy. She knew that she didn't need to dwell on my eyebrows because it was already thick haha. She didn't put too much eyeliner that would make me look old. I loved the shade of her Lancome lipstick and her Naturactor foundation which covered my small blemishes. Their hair and makeup services costs P1,200 and their place is just walking distance from Greenhills mall.

Cuts and Colours is located at Ground Floor LPL Building Annapolis St. Greenhills San Juan City.

Dove Intensive Repair Shampoo & Conditioner

I got free sachets of the new Dove Intensive Repair shampoo and conditioner so I decided to try it. We all know Dove is popular for its moisturizing soap so I got curious if it would do the same thing for the hair as well. With the 10ml sachet, it lathers really well. It wasn’t too fragrant like other shampoos but it had a certain fresh scent.  After my first wash, I felt my hair was so clean. The conditioner was also unusually not too ‘greasy’ unlike my current conditioner which takes a while to rinse. I combed my hair while it was still wet and I just let it dry. My hair usually takes hours to dry, and gets all tangled up by the time I get in the office. When I got in, I noticed that my hair was almost completely dry and it only took a few hours. Since I was a bit busy that day, I only remembered to comb my hair by lunch time. Surprisingly, my hair was still soft that I only needed my fingers to fix my hair and the scent also did not fade. After a whole day in the office, I went home with my hair looking I just blow-dried  it. To further test its effectiveness, I decided to try not washing my hair on the second day. As it turned out, my hair was still soft and manageable. By night time it became a bit oily due to my naturally oily scalp but it still looked good. I think I will buy the whole bottle once my current shampoo runs out. I just hope it won’t lose its effectiveness with prolonged use =)
